Support Scouting

Time, Talent and/or Treasure

You don’t have to wear a uniform or even work directly with young people in order to have a direct impact on the Scouting program. While the most identifiable, and certainly the most important asset to youth is the uniformed volunteer leader, there are many ways that parents, alumni and friends can have a direct impact on the delivery of the program. The Central Georgia Council annual budget is set around the specific systems Scouting has used for over 100 years to deliver the program. Some of the annual services provided by the Central Georgia Council include:

  • Starting new units
  • Recruiting and training volunteers
  • Community Service Projects
  • Maintaining camping facilities
  • Organizing events
  • Providing opportunities for disadvantaged youth
  • Creating opportunities for advancement

Most people give back to Scouting by donating their time, talent and/or treasure.

There are many short-term projects in need of volunteers. Serving on a specific activity, sitting on a standing council committee or working directly with youth are great examples of specific needs. Contact the council office if you would like to volunteer your time.

Individuals have specific skills, or talent. While some volunteers are great working with Scouts, others may be able to help give strategic guidance to a council committee or special event. Consider giving leadership or support to one of our executive activities by providing your talents.

All great campfires have plenty of wood to keep them going. Likewise, the Central Georgia Council will continue to grow brightly for the next 100 years with the generous financial support of our friends, families and alumni. Click here to keep the campfires burning.

Friends of Scouting

Funding the annual services provided by the Central Georgia Council to our youth with cash donations continues to be our greatest need. This funding supports the annual budget and specifically targets Scout families, alumni, and business. Our largest source of fundraising is the Friends of Scouting campaign. Click here for more information about Friends of Scouting.

The Council is always in need of budgeted supplies or equipment. New items such as program or food supplies for camp, office supplies, even heavy equipment are always needed and can be part of a tax-deductable gift.
